Matthew Decker


Matthew Decker is an interactive website designer and scripting guru with specialties in user experience design, graphic design, 508 compliance, and accessibility. His interests also include critiquing movies, and dining at local restaurants.

He is a recent graduate from Virginia Tech with a degree in Industrial Design. During his time at VT he studied under the direction of many accomplished designers including Ron Kemnitzer (FIDSA), Ed Dorsa (IDSA), Mitzi Vernon and Bill Green.

His skills as a website designer and developer include an expert level proficiency with HTML, CSS, FTP/SFTP, Adobe Creative Suite 5 (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Acrobat), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). In addition to these skills, he has experience with Section 508 Compliance, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), W3C Code Validation, Social Media campaigns, Wiki development, Google Analytics, the Google Search Appliance (GSA), AWStats, RSS Feeds, Domain/cPanel Management, and Web 2.0 Content Management Systems. Matthew is in the process of obtaining various certifications as well as advancing his abilities in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript and Adobe Flash.

Matthew is currently employed at the American Institutes for Research based out of Washington, DC and holds the position of Senior Web Development Specialist. In addition to working at AIR, Matthew works as a freelance website designer and developer. He is currently working on projects ranging from website consulting to enterprise level corporate websites which incorporate Flash multimedia.
